Stumbled across this tiny ice-cream parlor offering Thai Coconut Ice Cream at 321 Clementi called Wimi Ice Cream . They offer Thai traditional coconut ice cream similar to those found in Chatuchak market in Bangkok . Situated at the ground floor of the new mall , the shop is a small takeaway place with no in door seating. Customers can have their ice cream at a grassy embankment just outside the shop picnic style .
With the soaring temperatures nowadays , ice cream is always a welcomed indulgence . This unique thai ice cream place should stand out from the numerous frozen yoghurt places . The only other place in Singapore that I know of that offers thai ice cream is Pong Gelato at Scape .
According to the friendly guys mending the shop, the ice creams are made fresh daily in-house with no stabilizers or artificial flavourings .They have two versions of their coconut ice cream , soft serve and the normal ice cream . The Thai traditional ice cream is priced at $4.90 while the soft serve is priced at $3 for cup and $3.50 for cone .
The thai traditional ice cream comes with one scoop of coconut ice cream with 3 standard toppings of your choice and a refreshing cup of coconut water . They have a variety of standard toppings to choose from such as cendol , peanuts and etc . Premium toppings such as red ruby and jackfruit only requires an additional $0.80 / topping .
Their signature ice cream is served on a halved coconut shell atop a bed of toppings . Thick and creamy , the ice cream was heavenly on a hot day . Although the coconut flavour was a little muted , the tasty toppings made up for it. To my surprise , hidden beneath the toppings and ice cream are pieces of luscious coconut flesh . I particularly liked the juicy and tender coconut flesh .
Overall , the coconut ice cream made for a refreshing dessert . If you’re craving for the thai ice cream that you had in Chatuchak , it’s now available in Clementi . Come get some , people !
